Dear Friends and Colleagues, Apologies for crossposting,
Some of us as CREAM’s Ecological Futurisms collective are excited to hold few events starting next week.
We begin with a watch party of films from the Global Extraction Film Festival 2022.
We invite you to join us for this pop-up screening at @ambika_p3 London on Wednesday 26th & Thursday 27th October, 2-6pm which will be a chance to catch up and mutually engage with such significant work in person. We are supporting the work by Jamaican environmental filmmaker and activist Esther Figueroa (Vagabond Media) and film scholar-practitioner Emiel Martens (University of Amsterdam, Caribbean Creativity), who have once again put together a significant and timely programme for this year.
The watch party at Ambika P3 kickstarts the research project and network Matters of Extraction led by Roshini Kempadoo, with more events including further film screenings at Ambika (2nd November), an online discussion with Roshini, Deborah Thomas and Alissa Trotz, chaired by Radha D’Souza and introduced by CREAM doctoral candidate and artist Christina Peake. The following week we extend the programme to include Barby Asante’s viva exhibition and a tribute to one of our colleagues. See details for free bookings below.
We hope you can spread the word - encourage students, activists, artists and join us as we collaborate, contribute and focus on some of the urgent questions and approaches to research.
Roshini Kempadoo on behalf of the Ecological Futurism collective members.
