Dear colleagues,
we are happy to announce a new initiative that might of interest to list subscribers.
The book series "意大利语歌剧脚本字对字精准解析系列丛书” is a perfect guide for opera singers, directors, conductors and repetiteurs. These manuals are especially conceived for individuals not proficient in Italian. In addition to comprising the original text and Chinese translation of the entire libretto, the manual includes summary of the plot, word by word explanations, and indicates all the verbs at the infinitive. Footnotes are also incorporated with accurate clarifications of cultural diversities and stories associated with Italian history that are pivotal in completely comprehending the libretto. This is the first global initiative of this kind and we have already received many positive feedback from Chinese students, who found this a very helpful tool in the study of opera.
Six librettos (“L’Elisir d’amore”, "La traviata", "La bohème", "Cavalleria rusticana", "Pagliacci", and "Rigoletto") have already been published (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09527L43M?binding=paperback&ref=dbs_dp_rwt_sb_tpbk) and further volumes will be released in the upcoming weeks:
The book series is presented by prominent figures in the world of opera:
Massimiliano Baggio, Deputy Director, Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi, Milan.
Delfo Menicucci, Voice Professor, Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi, Milan.
Nelson Calzi, Répétiteur, Teatro alla Scala, Milan.
Christian Starinieri, Opera Agent.
The books already become part of the libraries of the Conservatorio "Giuseppe Verdi" in Milan: https://www.biblioteche.regione.lombardia.it/vufind/Searchopacrl/Results?lookfor=%22Petruzzi%2C+Carlo+Alberto%22&type=Author, the Manhattan School of Music (https://library.msmnyc.edu/search/Y?searchtype=Y&searcharg=stella+guo) and of the Juilliard School (https://juilliardschool-the.on.worldcat.org/search?queryString=se%3A%20Italian%20opera%20librettos%20with%20precise%20word%20by%20word%20explanation&clusterResults=true&groupVariantRecords=false).
Thank you and best regards,
