Dear colleagues,
We hope you had a restful summer. I am Kristof Smeyers, and I have joined Astrid and Anat as organiser of the research network.
We are delighted to announce several activities:
- We have recorded the first in a short series of podcast conversations with scholars of enchantment in all its iterations. The conversation with Michael Saler is now available here: https://economic-enchantments.net/resources/podcast-saler/
- We plan to organise a series of virtual work-in-progress meetings on Thursdays or Fridays over the course of the academic year, for which we invite you to submit a title, an abstract of 200-400 words, and a short biography to https://economic-enchantments.net/events/cfp_work_in_progress/ by 15 October. Work-in-progress meetings will consist of 10-15 minute presentations, followed by a discussion. For planning purposes, please include your time zone and preferred dates in your message.
- Finally, we are planning a conference around the theme of enchantment in the history of capitalism on 30 June / 1 July 2023. We are currently exploring funding options that will determine the location, and a Call for Papers (with a deadline in February 2023) will follow. We would, however, already like to invite our mailing list members to send us early expressions of interest.
Best regards on behalf of the organisers,
Kristof
