Dear CHIME folk,
The next EPSRC CHIME Music and HCI seminar will be on Wednesday 28 September at 12pm (midday - note that this is different from our usual seminar time). This event is themed around music, interaction and disability. You can sign up (free) via the Eventbrite link here: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/chime-seminar-music-interaction-and-disability-tickets-422434662447
We're very pleased to have three speakers engaged in this world from different perspectives:
- Karen Sutherland, a composer and performer whose recent commission "Entwine" for music technology, viola and clarinet will be discussed.
- Pete Sparkes, the artistic director of Drake Scotland who has worked with Karen on this project and on a more recent piece using the Mi.Mu gloves.
- Ciaran Frame, a doctoral researcher at Monash University’s Sensilab who has been working on hyper-bespoke instruments for disability, promoting longevity in accessible instrument design and reducing barriers to accessing music performance.
As usual, we will have time for wider discussion following the two 30 minute presentations. We hope to see some of you there.
Tom Mudd and Simon Holland
