Youth Engagement Coordinator
Hours: 21 hours per week
Salary: £18,000 per annum (FTE £30,000)
Contract: Till Autumn 2023

Coram, the UK’s oldest children’s charity, is delivering a major heritage programme, Voices Through Time: The Story of Care, with the support of the National Lottery Heritage Fund. The programme includes:
>Digitisation and transcription of a major portion of Coram’s Foundling Hospital Archive, which is held at London Metropolitan Archives
>Creative arts projects co-produced with care-experienced and looked-after young people in conjunction with creative partners
>Promotion of our heritage content online
>Development of a suite of resources based on the programme’s activities, to reach out to others
>Challenging the misconceptions of care by showcasing young people’s talents and ambitions
We are looking for an individual who is passionate about young people’s progression and about working with heritage and history.
About the role
The Youth Engagement Coordinator will recruit and support young people in the development and delivery of a range of creative projects, inspired by Coram’s archive. These projects will allow care-experienced young people to talk about their own experiences and stories, in a historic context. The role will involve close liaison with the programme’s Archivist, external partners, and freelance consultants to ensure a valuable and meaningful experience for those involved. The post holder will report to the Programme Manager, Voices Through Time: The Story of Care.
