Here is the link to the Passion-Driven Statistics e-book! http://bit.ly/PDSe-book
Passion-Driven Statistics is an NSF-funded, multidisciplinary, project-based curriculum that supports students in conducting data-driven research, asking original questions, and communicating methods and results using the language of statistics. The curriculum supports students to work with existing data covering psychology, health, earth science, government, business, education, biology, ecology and more. From existing data, students are able to pose questions of personal interest and then use statistical software (e.g. SAS, R, Python, Stata, SPSS) to answer them. The e-book is presented in pdf format for ease of use across platforms. Check out our public website http://passiondrivenstatistics.com/.
All resources are FREE to faculty and students. We have a turnkey model or you can use only the resources that make sense for your students. We have used this with high school, undergraduate, and graduate students in statistics and research methods courses. This can be a short project or a full semester project. No experience with software is necessary and we offer teacher workshops to help you get started.
To support folks in learning code-based software and in moving more easily between them we have created a “translation code” document. The pdf includes all of the basic syntax for managing, displaying and analyzing data, translated across SAS, R, Python, Stata and SPSS. http://bit.ly/PDSTranslationCode.
