The International Medieval Congress at the University of Leeds will take place from 3-6 July 2023. Covid-permitting, the conference will take place in person with virtual involvement possible for those who are unable to attend in person. 

Proposals on any topic related to the Middle Ages are welcome, while every year the IMC also chooses a special thematic focus. In 2023 this is ‘Networks and Entanglements’. The call for papers can be found here: https://www.imc.leeds.ac.uk/imc-2023/ <https://www.imc.leeds.ac.uk/imc-2023/>

The Congress is particularly interested in papers, session proposals, and roundtables related to all aspects and all genres of music, all aspects of liturgy, or connections between music & liturgy. 

To that end, individual paper proposals are due by 31 August 2022 and session and roundtable proposals are due by 30 September 2022.

The proposal process for the IMC is especially short and painless, only a 100-word abstract and a short form. Please do consider submitting a paper, session or roundtable. In making your proposal be sure to flag the "Music & Liturgy" Strand, no matter if your paper subject is on music, liturgy, or both. The IMC has become an important forum for discussing the future of Medieval Studies as a discipline and important issues of diversity and inclusion. The Congress is keen for all subject areas to be a part of these conversations.

Please note: The dates for the Medieval and Renaissance Music Conference ('Med-Ren') do NOT conflict with Leeds this year. Med-Ren will take place 24-28 July.
