We are seeking a motivated master (or ph. D.) level researcher as a
scientific lab coordinator who supports our projects on motivation and
affect in education. We are looking for candidates who have a background
in psychology, education science, neuroscience, computer science, or a
related field. The position is suitable for (1) master-level students
who want to acquire more practical research experiences before applying
for ph. D. positions in their own field or master- or (2) ph. D.-level
researchers who want to pursue scientific project coordinating jobs and
gain further research experience.

The position comes with a contract for 3 years (initial funding is
available until 2026 March) with a potential extension for 2 years. The
successful candidate is expected to start as early as possible, but the
exact start date is negotiable. The contract hours would also be
negotiable between 50-100%. The candidate needs to live in a commutable
area from Hector Research Institute, Tübingen.

The position is part of the new Alexander von Humboldt Professorship
held by Professor Kou Murayama. A Humboldt Professorship is the most
highly endowed research prize in Germany
(https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.humboldt-professur.de%2Fen&data=05%7C01%7Cying.lee%40reading.ac.uk%7Cbf0fa16dfc1546ac8eb608da76ee08ef%7C4ffa3bc4ecfc48c09080f5e43ff90e5f%7C0%7C0%7C637953061974531364%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=i%2BkJDy4M60SyjWIqkcn5FE%2F9602nXWdlQqQYf0%2Bab%2Fg%3D&reserved=0). The Hector Research Institute is
a nationally and internationally leading research center in education
sciences and psychology. Our interdisciplinary team works in a
well-equipped building close to the historic old town of Tübingen,
Germany. Research at the Hector Research Institute is multifaceted
(longitudinal survey, randomized control intervention, digital media
learning, lab experiments, educational neuroscience etc.), but all the
projects aim to provide empirical foundation for educational practice.
Our team closely collaborates with each other within as well as beyond
the institute. More information can be found at https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.hib.uni-tuebingen.de%2F&data=05%7C01%7Cying.lee%40reading.ac.uk%7Cbf0fa16dfc1546ac8eb608da76ee08ef%7C4ffa3bc4ecfc48c09080f5e43ff90e5f%7C0%7C0%7C637953061974531364%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=km265U6CF0M%2Bk159mFvXoyE9fl5VmMf9Q3n7iTKk1Ro%3D&reserved=0.

The successful candidate is expected to help various aspects of
day-to-day lab work of Prof. Kou Murayama, Michiko Sakaki, Ulrich
Trautwein, and other colleagues at Hector Research Institute. This
includes scheduling participants, supporting paperwork, experimental
programming, setting up and maintaining lab facilities and generally
participating in the conduct of research and studies. Applicants who are
interested in having experiences in neuroimaging studies would be
particularly welcome. The successful candidate should have the following
profile.

- Very good academic university degree (master’s degree or ph. D.) in
the field of psychology, educational sciences, neuroscience, computer
science, or a related discipline.
- Strong communication skills (written and oral) in German and English
and ability to work in a team with supportive mindset.
- Ideally some experience in science-related project coordination.

The successful candidate will benefit from unique opportunities, including:

- Gain various research experiences in projects on education,
psychology, and neuroscience.
- Close collaboration, mentoring, and professional development from a
supervisory team
- Opportunities for interdisciplinary and international exchange
programs (e.g., lab visits)
- Access to the LEAD Research Network (https://eur03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.lead.uni-tuebingen.de%2F&data=05%7C01%7Cying.lee%40reading.ac.uk%7Cbf0fa16dfc1546ac8eb608da76ee08ef%7C4ffa3bc4ecfc48c09080f5e43ff90e5f%7C0%7C0%7C637953061974531364%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&sdata=3ojWlihEtU7J9xKTdsgeO7GfK4LrIuQVQz%2Ff0nxSeNQ%3D&reserved=0)

For further inquiries about the position, please reach out to Professor
Kou Murayama ([log in to unmask]).

Applications including a cover letter briefly describing (1) your past
experiences that make a strong case for the current job, (2) future
career vision and (3) desired contract hours (between 50%-100%) and
start date, a CV, degree and other certificates with transcripts should
be sent via email in one single pdf-file with the subject “lab

Initial deadline is September 25th but we continue to seek candidates
until the position is filled by a highly qualified candidate. Disabled
