"Student, staff and employer views on short-term credit bearing placements."

"Work-related learning offers students the opportunity to develop their graduate attributes and improve their employability. However, the challenge of providing credit-bearing placements within the confines of an undergraduate curriculum generates considerable discussion within the literature. Using a case study approach with qualitative methodology, this paper aims to present the benefits and challenges of credit-bearing placements on environmental science programmes. It was found that students appreciated the opportunity to experience the environmental world of work and develop new skills; employers valued the input from the student and the knowledge exchange; and the University benefited from enhanced partnerships with the organisation and student."
