Hi all,
We have been processing a couple of data sets that have much better density in some (poorly-resolved) sections when looking at the relion_locres_filtered.mrc than in the output of the postprocessing job that is not locally-filtered/sharpened. We haven't had much luck with using external local sharpening tools (although we can keep trying if necessary), and are wondering if this map is an acceptable map to use for model-building.
The Relion tutorial says the locres_filtered map "may be useful to describe the overall variations in map quality in a single map", so we weren't sure if it is to be used only for this purpose but not for downstream uses such as model building. We didn't find any papers / descriptions of how the map is created or in which it is used, so that would also be useful -- apologies if we overlooked something and we'd appreciate a link if we did!
Thanks,
Talya Levitz
