Hello SPM experts,
I want to ask your opinion on EEG systems with few-channels settings.
I am currently working on a project with an EEG-fNIRS system. Since experimental restrictions, we need to reduce the most we can number of EEG channels.
One objective is to classify alpha-beta-gamma bands in parietal and frontal regions based on time-frequency analyses. We establish a 7-chn configuration over the parietal region and another 7-ch frontal configuration, with a total density of 14 channels + 2 mastoids, with epochs of 10 seconds.
We know that we must be careful with the SNR and the preprocessing decisions (i.e., ICA).
However, we are not sure about spatial analysis or source reconstruction in this configuration. Firstly, it seems suspicious to say, 'we are observing parietal activity,' but Can we isolate both activities and be sure of independence between them?. If anyone has had any experience with this, I'd appreciate it.
Kind regards,
