*Research Assistant Position- Glasgow Caledonian University- Rural Community Asset Acquisition Policy*
Fixed Term- Part Time- 0.5- 17.5 hours a week (July 2022- December 2023)- Deadline for applications 8th June
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Researcher to join the British Academy/ Nuffield Foundation funded ‘Rural Assets’ project at the Yunus Centre for Social Business and Health at GCU. The project is a collaboration between researchers from GCU, James Hutton Institute, Bangor University, University of Highlands & Islands, Anglia Ruskin University, and policymakers and practitioners from Wales, England and Northern Ireland. ‘Rural Assets: Policy and Practice Insights from the Devolved Nations’ aims to understand the impacts of the processes of community asset acquisition upon the empowerment, resilience and wellbeing of rural communities. Using a qualitative research approach, underpinned by the priciples of co-production and action research, the project seeks to facilitate knowledge exchange across policy, practice and community levels, and across the four UK nations, to better enable processes of asset acquisition that achieve greater resilience, empowerment and wellbeing of rural communities. The team includes experts on community development, rurality, law and policy, and co-production.
The successful candidate will have an undergraduate degree in Social Sciences or a relevant field and will work with the research team to recruit participants, generate data, analyse and write up findings, and promote knowledge exchange, whilst keeping records in accordance with research ethics best practice. You will have experience of qualitative research methods, working closely with communtiies or the general public, writing to professional or academic standard, and good presentation skills. Experience of multi-stakeholder co-production is desirable, though training and support will be provided.
