Adjaye Associates seek an Archive Manager to manage our existing archive of models, sketches and photographic materials, as well as to develop and implement policies and procedures relating to newly generated archival material across all three of our offices. The Archive Manager will report directly to the Head of Research and will need to have the experience and interpersonal skills necessary to carry out their duties proactively and independently, supporting and working in collaboration with Studio Leadership, the Global Communications Team, and the Global Exhibition Design Team. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Managing and developing our archive under the supervision of the Head of Research
Communicating the scope, value and conservation needs of the archive to staff at all levels acrossthe studio
Keeping the archive database up-to-date with live project information•Cataloguing all new models created as part of live project work
Working with external suppliers to organise the crating, cleaning and repair of the studio’s collection of historic architectural models
Overseeing the transportation of models to and between off-site storage locations
Assisting with the curation and creation of safe display of project models in the offices
Digitising and re-housing historic sketchbooks and loose sketches
Overseeing the digitisation and cataloguing of new sketchbooks and loose sketches
Developing new and updating policies and procedures to effectively manage the archive, across all
Adjaye Associates offices
Developing new policies in relation to the archiving of born-digital sketches
Assisting staff in other departments with locating, displaying or publishing archive material
Collaborating with senior staff to develop long-term strategic plans for the archive in its entirety
Role Qualities and skills Requirements:
At least two years of experience in a similar senior role, preferably within an architecture or design setting
Ability to take the initiative and to act proactively and independently
Experience in managing multi-media collections, preferably including models or other three-dimensional items
Good broad understanding of the conservation requirements of paper-based and three-dimensional objects
Experience in dealing with senior figures and with staff from a range of different departments
Experience in carrying out or overseeing digitisation work through scanning and/or photography
An interest and/or experience in curating archival objects for display
Confident with using and developing databases
Ability to work methodically and accurately and with attention to detail
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate detailedinformation and strategic plans in a variety of formats
Excellent spatial awareness and understanding of the architectural field
Impeccable English language communication skills, both spoken and written (second language is an advantage)
Salary: £35-50k dependent on experience.
