Hi all,
I'm wondering if anyone can help share their experiences with the piccolo device - particularly interested in anyone based in Cambridge/Edinburgh who are involved in the organ retrieval service. Our transplant team wish to use this for a novel donor organ retrieval process that involves 2h extracorporeal circulation prior to retrieval. This is where the device will be used - mainly to look at trends. Unlike usual blood samples, these samples will be diluted with crystalloids, colloids, anti-inflammatories and various anti-biotics. Therefore hct usually 20-25% and often a delay or rejection of laboratory samples.
Clearly a great indication but will carry difficulties with a device evaluation!
Best wishes,
Helen (SpR Chem Path, UHW, Cardiff)
