Dear All,
Might I suggest that the Facebook group serves no purpose? In recent years, many people have left Facebook. Even people who keep a Facebook account don’t bother with it. I look at FB once or twice a month — the problem is that there is no way to avoid the endless stream of messages, and there is no way to sort through trivia and nonsense. If you are one of the many people who have too many Facebook friends, you are deluged with information you don’t have time to deal with.
The only time I have bothered with Facebook in the past month has been to study the menu of a restaurant too lazy to place the menu on their own web site. Stupid? Yes. But I was traveling and trying to decide where to stop for lunch.
The JISCMAIL group allows us to speak with one another. I’m always interested in Aacorn news and news from Aacorn people, so this is where I look.
In this complicated, hypertrophied media world of ours, people who wish to use Facebook are free to do so. But I won’t be reading their messages, and I’d guess I am not the only one.
It says something to know that two of the Facebook administrators don’t belong to the JISCMAIL group — and they don’t seem to admit members to the Facebook page either. As I see it, you’re better off if they don’t let you in.
Yours,
Ken
