CALL FOR PAPERS
Early career researchers and doctoral students from the UK are invited to
submit abstracts for the Poster Exhibition at BEYOND 2022, the annual R&D
conference for the creative industries. This year’s BEYOND conference will
take place on October 18-20, 2022 in Cardiff. This year’s BEYOND conference
asks what is the role of the creative industries in thinking about and
designing a zero-carbon future.
Responding to the conference core themes, we invite poster proposals on the
following themes:

The environmental impact of the Creative Industries
-
The role of these industries in building a zero-carbon future
-
Creative products and services for a zero-carbon world
-
Making shifts in creative and design thinking to meet the challenges
-
Rethinking existing creative industry business models with
sustainability in mind
-
Changing production methods for screen arts/virtual production
-
The aesthetics of sustainability / sustainable design
-
The Creative Industries’ role in influencing behaviour as we transition
-
Imagining and telling stories of a sustainable future
-
Necessary disruptions to ensure sustainability in the future
-
Diversity, accessibility and equality in building a zero-carbon world
We would be interested to hear from researchers in the fields of (but not
limited to):
-
The creative arts (fine art, film and media / moving image);
-
Performing arts (theatre and drama, music, opera, dance);
-
Creative technologies and digital arts (games design / multiplayer games
/ mobile gaming / educational gaming, AR/VR/XR);
-
Fashion design;
-
Heritage and museum studies, focusing on historical places and
narratives;
-
Creative economies and policies;
-
Anthropological studies;
-
Pedagogical studies for the creative arts that implement digital
creativity.
Early Career Researchers interested in participating should submit a
300-word abstract of their poster project and a 150-word bionote by
completing this form <https://airtable.com/shrHA1aC9DTlxFX1Y>by the end of
day on Monday July 25th, 2022. Applicants are also welcome to submit
images, videos and other links to assets that might be relevant to their
projects and if such are available. These can be submitted through the
application form alongside the main abstract and bionote. All proposals
will be subject to double blind peer review. Successful applicants will be
notified in early August, 2022.
Although Poster exhibition participants are welcome to attend the
conference in-person, the exhibition will be hosted online and the
accompanying talks will also be held remotely/online. The event will be
held on 20th October, 2022, the third day of BEYOND 2022. More information
about the full schedule of conference proceedings will be released closer
to the event. Tickets for Early Career Researchers in the Poster Exhibition
will be priced at £59 plus VAT but if participants wish to attend the
in-person part of the event, they can upgrade their tickets.
