Hi all,
The Humanities and Data Science Discussion Group (https://github.com/alan-turing-institute/HDS-DiscussionGroup) is back! The first meeting will be today May 25, at 4 pm London time (see in your local time: https://arewemeetingyet.com/london/2022-05-25/16:00/H&DS%20Discussion%20Group%20-%20Open%20Data).
This discussion group we will be looking at open data. Barbara McGillivray and Nilo Pedrazzini will start the conversation around the following topic:
The Open Science movement have been critical in establishing the importance of data in scientific research. Alongside the sciences, attention to data in Social Sciences and Humanities research has gradually grown over the recent years. With the increasing adoption of Open Knowledge principles, new questions arise on the best practices in data publications. Data Publication is acquiring increasing visibility and interest, also thanks to the growing popularity of data journals, publishing venues devoted to peer-reviewed publications describing datasets and crediting their creators (data papers). In this discussion group, we would like to share our experience from the Journal of Open Humanities Data (https://openhumanitiesdata.metajnl.com/), and its role in the landscape of open data in the humanities.
