NeuroInformatics Lab at Rutgers University-School of Health Professions is inviting applications of a two-year post-doctoral fellow on NIH/NEI- funded RO1 application. The fellow will work as part of a multidisciplinary team led by Suril Gohel (Rutgers University) and Tara Alvarez (New Jersey Institute of Technology). The neuroinformatics lab at Rutgers focuses on understanding human brain function during resting state and in task conditions, and it’s disruption by cognitive challenges and in neuro-clinical populations. Specifically, we use multiband neuroimaging data to understand and quantify frequency-specific changes in functional brain integration and the relationship between functional activation and functional connectivity.
The post-doctoral position focuses on quantifying changes in functional activity and connectivity as a result of oculomotor intervention in population with persistent Post-Concussive Symptoms in Convergence Insufficiency. The fellow will engage in all aspects of research related to the project including running data collection sessions, QA/QC analysis on fMRI data, performing data analysis, dissemination of research results, including publications, conference presentations. The Neuroinformatics lab is located within walking distance of NJIT and Rutgers University Brain Imaging Center, that houses Siemens Trio and Prisma scanners. Fellowship also offers ample opportunity for collaborations both within the institute and with other researchers at Rutgers.
Qualifications include but are not limited to:
PhD defended/submitted in Biomedical Sciences, Biomedical Informatics, Psychology, cognitive psychology, or other neuroscience related fields.
Prior experience with fMRI analysis toolbox (e.g., AFNI, FSL, SPM, Free Surfer)
Programming skills for experiments, analysis, and statistics (e. g., MATLAB or Python).
Prior experience in subject recruitment, fMRI data acquisition/ data processing / data analysis
Prior research experience in the field of oculomotor dysfunction is desired but not necessary
Ability to work in an inter-disciplinary team
The fellowship will start in the summer/Fall of 2022.
