Dear Colleagues,
Call for Expressions of Interest: "Symposium on Sustainability in Business Education, Research and Practices"
Many business schools are trying to adapt and appeal to students' and recruiters' demands to embrace social values
and sustainability. At present, more and more business schools are integrating sustainability as a whole,
and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in particular, into their
core courses and MBA programmes, helping their graduates to become even more attractive to employers.
Whereas integrating sustainability across all core business teachings is a logical step for impact-based business schools,
it is unclear how best should this work be undertaken, and which approaches, methods and strategies may yield the
highest impact. It is on the basis to address this perceived need, and to foster a dialogue among providers -and users-
of business education, that the Symposium "Sustainability in Business Education, Research and Practices" is being organised by the European School of Sustainability Science and Research (ESSSR)
https://esssr.eu/.
The Symposium will serve the purpuse of discussing how sustainability may be
incorporated in business education, in the research programmes of business
schools, and in business practice as a whole. It is part of the "Accelerating the Implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals Series",
with events aimed at fostering the implementation of the UN SDGs.
As an output and long-term documentation of the event, selected papers will be published in the book
"Sustainability in Business Education, Research and Practices", which will follow on the success of the "Encyclopedia of Sustainability in Higher Education" https://link.springer.com/referencework/10.1007/978-3-319-63951-2 which is a "living edition" and the "Encyclopedia of the UN Sustainable Development Goals" (https://www.springer.com/series/15893), the world´s
largest editorial project on sustainable development ever undertaken.
Expressions of interest to host the event, which will last 2 days, should be sent to the ESSSR office at: [log in to unmask] We would ideally like to hear from a business school, since this theme is important to them.
The details will be discussed with interested organisations.
Rgds,
The ESSSR Team
