*Deadline Approaching- 29th April 2022*
Glasgow Caledonian University invite PhD proposals relating to the work of the Community, Citizenship and Participation research theme at the Yunus Centre for Social Business and Health.
We are particularly interested in citizen’s coproduction. Citizen’s coproduction implies involvement of citizens in the service production process. Citizens coproduction has a prominent place in policy making – for example through shaping or delivering public services. We invite proposals that investigate the relationship between coproduction policy and practice. Potential areas of investigation might include the transfer of responsibility for welfare from government to citizens, the role of structures and networks in supporting coproduction, or developing a more differentiated understanding of how coproduction works for different groups under different contextual conditions. However, we welcome any proposals which fit broadly within the parameters of the theme and focus on coproduction. We encourage applicants to be creative with methodological approaches and theories. The critical assessment of policy and practice will contribute to addressing Sustainable Development Goals number 10 and 17 to reduce inequalities and promote partnership working.
The successful student will join a diverse interdisciplinary group of researchers and PhD students at the Yunus Centre (https://www.gcu.ac.uk/yunuscentre/). To apply, candidates should submit a two-page case for support summarising the context for their research, outlining their research questions, and specifying their preferred methodological approach. Applicants should also include a cover letter explaining why they want to undertake this project, and outlining how they will contribute to the diversity of the Yunus Centre postgraduate student population, and a two-page CV. The successful applicant will usually have a social sciences Master degree which satisfies the ESRC 2015 methods training requirements. Where these criteria are not met, studentships may be offered on a 1+3 basis if the applicant can outline a persuasive case in their cover letter.
