Dear Colleagues,
next Wednesday 27th of April, the Käte Hamburger Kolleg "Cultures of Research" will continue its lecture series on "optimist and pessimist views on AI", this time with Ana Bazzan’s lecture „Traffic as a Socio-Technical System: Opportunities for AI“. The lecture takes place from 17:00 to 19:00 (5-7pm) in our lecture room at Theaterstraße 75 and online. To register for the zoom-link, please write an email to: [log in to unmask]
Abstract
In this talk I will give an overview about traffic systems - with different perspectives (system view, agent view) - and introduce some concepts, what has been done, what I have done and how AI in general and multiagent systems in particular can contribute to improve urban mobility. In this context, interesting questions are: how can a microscopic, agent-based approach to modeling and simulation help decision-makers and traffic planners? How can new technologies, such as routing apps, microblogs, and context for prediction of patterns be incorporated to the past effort/agenda? How to integrate these techniques with existing traffic control (e.g., traffic signals)? How to most effectively use the internet of vehicles? In this talk I also cover some challenges and obstacles.
Best regards,
Dawid Kasprowicz
