Jarman Studios, School of Arts, University of Kent
The Feldenkrais Method® is a movement oriented learning approach which enhances our ability to engage in embodied research in skillful and reflective ways. As a somatic and systemic preparatory practice, it fosters increased self-awareness, observation skills, creative agency and embodied criticality as catalysts for refined experiential practice.
Thomas Kampe (PhD) has worked as a performing artist, researcher and somatic educator across the globe. He is a practitioner of The Feldenkrais Method® and Professor of Somatic Performance & Education at Bath Spa University, UK, where he co-directs the Creative Corporealities Research Group. Thomas guest-edited the IFF Research Journal Vol. 6 (2019): ‘Practices of Freedom: The Feldenkrais Method and Creativity’ and recently co-edited JDSP Vol. 13.1 &2 (2022): ‘Embodying Eco- Consciousness: Somatics, Aesthetic Practice and Social Action’.
Suggested workshop contribution: £8.00. Maximum number of participants is 30.
Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga/exercise mat if possible (some mats will be available).
