SHORT CALL:
The ‘Applying Education in a Complex World’ conference seeks to support cross disciplinary works across health, design and the social sciences.
It is organized by Sheridan College, Toronto Canada, and will highlight work in the Faculty of Applied Health & Community Studies; the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences; and the Faculty of Arts and Design who are coordinating the event.
The premise of the event and its associated publications is that the world of education reflects the world of work in issues such as complexity, change and cross disciplinarity. On this basis, it welcomes papers examining interdisciplinary teaching. It seeks examples of academic-industry collaboration. It calls for ideas on lifelong learning in the workplace. It explores how the cultural sectors connect to health and the social sciences, and how the arts connect with the sciences.
It asks how education can both shape and respond to social, political and technological change. In short, it asks how we are applying our teaching to the changing world we inhabit as teachers, and our students will inhabit as professionals, social scientists, artists and designers of varying sorts.
