Getting a PhD is an exciting experience, but finding a job in academia is also extremely competitive. Many young researchers continue to work after completing their PhDs without knowing about the career system in Higher Education. Although they are expected to raise third-party funds, they do not receive any advice or training on how to apply for these funds. In order to help final stage PhD students make better career decisions, we are organising this post-doctoral fellowship workshop to give PGRs a better understanding of the postdoctoral application process and the differences between the major grants.
During this workshop, we will hear from three former/current recipients of three major funding schemes in the UK and Europe, including the Leverhulme Postdoctoral Fellowship, Marie Sk©©odowska-Curie Research Fellowship, and ESRC Postdoctoral Research Fellowship. Participants will have the opportunity to hear their experiences as postdocs as well as get an overview of the leading funding organizations in the UK, and also learn about career paths at a university. This workshop is specifically designed for early career researchers and final stage doctoral students who want to gain insights into the funding process and prepare to apply for postdoctoral funding in the UK and abroad.
