Hi all,
Apologies for posting this here but I realise a lot of us use AppsAnywhere and I couldn't think of a more appropriate place!
For those of you who use AppsAnywhere, and more specifically those of you who actually package the apps, I'd like to enquire about your packaging environment. Do you use your own dedicated workstation and if so, what sort of spec do you run? Our current environment consists of a Dell R630 server filled to the brim with large HDD's. Windows Server 2016 is installed with Terminal Services enabled. This allows a small team of us to have our own profile on the server and use VMware Workstation to carry out of packaging duties. We also use VMware Workstation on this server for the building / testing of Windows images and for testing of various MECM software deployments or GPO's.
This server has served us well (yawn..). It's a single, reliable, enterprise grade, rack-mounted machine that we can all share but it's showing its age. Our packaging workload dictate that we now need to be using i7/i9 CPU's, NVMe storage and high-end video cards so we're debating whether or not to go down the high-end standalone workstation route. It would be nice to find a server with this spec but I'm not sure such a thing exists or if it does it's probably serious $$$.
I'd welcome your thoughts on this. :)
Cheers,
Graham
