Dear All,
We are happy to announce that our Summer School Planning and Design for the Just City is BACK after a two-year hiatus. This is a school for 3rd year students (or up), at master’s level.
The TU Delft Summer School Planning and Design for the Just City focuses on the challenges and opportunities offered by putting justice in the centre of urban development, focusing on sustainability in its three crucial dimensions: social, economic, and environmental.
The school consists of a two-week total immersion experience at TU Delft where we will discuss spatial justice, climate justice and social sustainability through the lenses of sustainable and fair water management. You will learn about the latest trends in urban planning and design by visiting projects in the Netherlands connected to sustainable, fair, and inclusive urbanisation. This school includes lectures with professors from TU Delft, as well as site visits, technical visits, and plenty of social interaction. Our partners include the Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment of the Netherlands, the Municipalities of the Hague and Rotterdam, the Province of South Holland, The Delta Commission, DELTARES, ARCADIS, TU Delft Global Initiative, the Delft Design for Values Platform and more.
The school includes a real strategic planning and design exercise for the city of the Hague.
Detailed information about the school and how to apply can be found at https://summerschooltudelft.org
Applications are open until May 1st here: https://summerschooltudelft.org/how-to-apply/
The fee is 450 euros but there are a few scholarships available. There are 100 places available.
I hope you can help me advertise this school by forwarding this email to your friends and by sharing the poster on social media, together with the links to apply.
NOTE: As countries have different strategies to face the ongoing pandemic, we are hoping for no new lock-down measures. However, we do ask students participating in this summer school to have proof of at least two doses of any vaccine against CORONA.
Hope to see you in Delft!
Best wishes!
Roberto Rocco and Caroline Newton, Section of Spatial Planning and Strategy, Urbanism, Bouwkunde
