Here about the latest public health developments in a violence reduction context and understand where this work may support wider activity to address health inequalities through socila prescribing early intervention and treatment and management.

In February 2021, the three North West Violence Risk Reduction Units and their partnerships
received £7.9 million and in spite of COVID they have been very busy. The partnerships all
adopted an innovative public health approach to violence reduction to break offending cycles,
improve communities, and reduce the cost and pain of serious violence. By “public health
approach” we mean education campaigns which run the life course, begin in the early years and
last until adulthood and include the provision of positive alternatives to enable young people to
find a purpose, whether by education or employment.
Find out what they are doing with this resource and what role health professionals can and
should play. Hear about their highly creative and innovative approaches to addressing the wider
determinants of crime and in so doing improving individual and community, economic and
environmental wellbeing. If you interested in health inequalities and aren’t connected to your local
partnership you should be.
