University of London Writing Retreat for PhD students in Cultural History: 3 - 6 May 2022
Organised by the Huizinga Institute, Utrecht, and the Warburg Institute, the Institute of Modern Languages Research, and the Institute of Historical Research (University of London School of Advanced Study)
Born out of a partnership between the Warburg Institute and the Huizinga Institute, Utrecht (the Dutch National Research School for Cultural History), this four-day programme of talks, workshops, supervised writing clinics, and independent writing sessions has been designed for University of London-registered PhD students working in the field of cultural studies (broadly defined).
The Writing Retreat provides quiet and supportive space to hone your writing skills while learning about the nuts and bolts of researching and publishing in your field. By the end of the week, you will have gained a better understanding of your subject field, strengthened your writing skills, and learned how to present and disseminate your work more effectively - and all of this in good company with refreshments provided!
The Writing Retreat includes a special masterclass - 'Aby Warburg - Between Botticelli and Darwin' - led by Prof. Dr. Sigrid Weigel (Leibniz-Zentrum für Literatur und Kulturforschung, Berlin).
Attendance is free but places are strictly limited. If you would like to attend please complete and return the application form to [log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]> inclusive of supervisor's approval by no later than Thursday 31 March. Applications will be considered on a competitive basis. You will be notified of the result by the 8th of April.
