Hi,

Jisc is hosting a Tech2Tech webinar on connecting to Janet at 100G on Thursday 7th April from 1.30pm.

The event is free to attend, but you need to register at the following link to be sent the necessary Zoom details:

https://www.jisc.ac.uk/events/tech-2-tech-upgrading-your-campus-to-100g-connectivity-to-janet-07-apr-2022

The session, which we expect to run for 45 mins to an hour, will cover a variety of topics around 100G connectivity to Janet. We currently have approaching ten sites connected at 100G capacity, with others in the process of being upgraded. It therefore seems timely to bring together those with some 100G deployment and connectivity experience with others who are considering it.

Topics we aim to cover include:

How does Jisc provision 100G capacity to our members?

What are the specific challenges of 100G networking within a campus, e.g. around security and monitoring?

How should I engineer a local network architecture to support efficient large scale data transfers without disrupting my day-to-day traffic?

How is Jisc extending its performance test capabilities to support speeds of up to 100G?

We are looking to include short talks from attendees; if there’s something you’d like to present please do get in touch directly.

Best wishes,

Tim Chown

Network Development Manager, Jisc
