Following on from our Statement on the War in Ukraine published on Monday
https://www.archives.org.uk/news/a-statement-on-the-war-in-ukraine
where we outlined our support and solidarity with Ukraine and specifically our Ukrainian colleagues in the record-keeping sector, we have been in touch with the Association of Ukrainians in Great Britain, the International Council on Archives and various other contacts.
As a result of this we have issued an update here https://www.archives.org.uk/news/call-for-russia-to-be-thrown-out-of-unesco
where we endorse the Ukrainian Minister for Culture and Information Policy's call for UNESCO to revoke Russian membership and relocate the 45th Session of the World Heritage Committee from its planned location in Russia in June.
The update also includes information from colleagues in countries neighbouring Ukraine and some suggestions for practical help and support.
You may also have seen that archives were featured in an article in the i-news today reporting on the call for Russia to be thrown out of UNESCO. Both John Chambers from ARA and Chris Gilley from the Wiener Holocaust Library are quoted.

Please do continue to keep in touch with us about initiatives for support of Ukraine or any updates on the situation there.
