We are seeking outstanding and enthusiastic researchers who have strong
passion to combine neuroscience, education sciences and developmental
psychology to better understand neural correlates of intellectual and
socioemotional development of gifted primary school children.
The successful candidate will work with Professors Michiko Sakaki,
Birgit Derntl, Jessika Golle, and Kou Murayama in our project on
giftedness and brain development. This is an exciting interdisciplinary
project based on collaboration across the Hector Research Institute and
the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Tübingen, Germany. We
are particularly interested in the brain development of intellectually
gifted children, and we plan to use (f)MRI and behavioural experimental
paradigms to gain deeper insights in brain’s structural and functional
differences between gifted and typical students as well as their
intellectual and socioemotional development.
Applicants can come from any fields of neuroscience/psychology or
related fields, but we are particularly looking for candidates (1) who
have strong programming skills and advanced neuroimaging (MRI) skills,
(2) who have experience in working with children in neuroimaging
research, and (3) who are interested in studies that have educational
implications, especially for gifted children.
The position comes with a fixed-term contract for 3 years with the
possibility for extension for additional 2 years. The expected start
date is October 2022.
Initial deadline is 15th of April 2022 but we continue to seek
candidates until the position is filled by a highly qualified candidate
(i.e. late application is acceptable until we make a final decision).
