Niya B: 912 Performance - Call for Participants
912 is a VR video experience based on community participatory performance of trans and non-binary people dealing with the opposing life forces of waiting and carrying on. The starting point of the project is the 4 years+ waiting time required currently for an appointment at the Gender Identity Clinic (GIC).
I am looking for participants, who identify as trans or non-binary and have lived experience of ‘waiting’ related to their gender transition, currently or in the past, to engage in a workshop and a simple performance act for the camera, which will be documented and edited into a VR video.
The project welcomes participants of all abilities, including wheelchair users, people with mobility issues, no matter what your physicality is you are welcome. No previous performance experience needed! The performance will not be open to the public.
Participants will be offered £50 to cover expenses.
There will be two workshops / performances on the following dates (exact times TBC):
- Saturday 5 March, 10pm – 5pm, for 10 participants based in the wider area of Birmingham
- Saturday 9 April, 10pm – 5pm, for 10 participants based in the wider area of Sheffield
How to participate:
Please send me an email at [log in to unmask] to introduce yourself and your experience of ‘waiting’ related to your gender transition. If you prefer, send a short video instead.
