CONFERENCE THEME – Leading by Example: Making a Social Impact

CONFERENCE TIME & DATE – April 1 – 2, 2022

LOCATION – Hybrid: Live in London at the Royal Geographical Society and Online from anywhere in the world

The 2022 Student Global Leadership Conference (SGLC) is an educational event and destination for undergraduate and postgraduate student leaders. The conference offers delegates engaging sessions and keynotes with hands-on, interactive topics featuring unique stories and experiences. The sessions focus on giving participants practical examples and take-away tools for real-world implementation. FIE’s sixth annual SGLC will explore how leaders and organizations fulfil, or not, their social mission and responsibility, while challenging and empowering modern leaders to not only lead by example but also make a social impact. 

The SGLC Committee is seeking proposals for educational programs and sessions. We are seeking a broad range of session presenters for our conference in London, UK. Presenters are required to attend and be present at the conference. No virtual proposals will be accepted. Presenters who can provide rich exploration of the conference’s theme, ‘Leading by Example: Making a Social Impact’, will be considered. We are pleased to consider proposals for original papers, sessions, and posters and welcome the opportunity to hear unique stories and experiences.

Topics may include but are not limited to:
• Leading in a Time of Crisis
• Ethics, Profit and Community
• Breaking the Mould – New Leadership Styles for a New World     
• Walking the Talk – Leading by Example, or Not    
• A New Politics    
• Compassion and Pragmatism    
• Global Vision, Local Practice    

If you, your colleagues, or your faculty have an interesting session topic and would like to present to this select group of students, we would like to invite you to submit a proposal. We will consider seasoned student leadership specialists, leadership scholars, and professionals with experience in leadership. 

We would also like to encourage current and former student leaders who may not yet had an opportunity to present at a conference before.  For any papers, which draw upon original research or papers, students can include research conducted in conjunction with a faculty member or as part of academic requirements - half of the sessions at previous SGLCs have been presented by students!

Proposals will be accepted on a rolling basis until January 10, 2022. We aim to confirm all presenters by the end of January 2022.

Please note: Session presenters are responsible for all expenses and travel to London, UK for the conference.
