Nominations are now very welcome for the 2022 Society for the History of
Natural History Book Prize - awarded to the best book published on the
history or bibliography of natural history during 2021 or 2020. 30 June
2022 is the closing date for nominations.
The prize will be awarded to the book which contributes most
significantly to the history of natural history. Significance will be
assessed on the basis of: Originality, organisation and presentation of
information, excellence of intellectual content, contribution to the
literature of the field. Winners receive the John Thackray Medal,
instituted in 2000 to commemorate the life and work of John Thackray, a
Past President of the Society.
Nominations are welcome from publishers and Members of the Society for
the History of Natural History. In the first instance, please contact
