We have an exciting opportunity for a Research Assistant/Associate to make a leading contribution to the “End-users Fixing Fairness Issues (Effi): Exploring the role and impact of end-user human-in-the-loop tools in ensuring fair Artificial Intelligence (AI)” project, working with Dr. Simone Stumpf, University of Glasgow and our partner Fujitsu Ltd. This is a unique chance to work on cutting-edge research in human-centric AI to address fairness issues and bias.
This project will investigate integrating end-user feedback about fairness and bias into human-in-the-loop AI tools. Hence, the successful candidate will conduct research into interface and algorithmic aspects of these tools, combining expertise in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and AI. The work will involve conducting machine learning experiments to investigate end-user feedback integration strategies, implementing prototypes and interfaces, and designing and conducting a user study to evaluate the effects of end-user feedback on fairness and bias. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the formulation and submission of research publications and research proposals as well as help manage and direct this complex and challenging project as opportunities allow.
Applications are invited from candidates who hold SCQF Level 10 (Honours degree) in Computer Science or a cognate discipline, or equivalent. For appointment at Grade 7, candidates are required to hold normally Scottish Credit and Qualification Framework level 12 (PhD) or alternatively possess the equivalent in professional qualifications and experience, with experience of personal development in a similar or related role(s).
