Job Opportunity – Assistant Archivist, the Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art (London)
Salary: £35,000-£40,000 per annum, depending on experience
Contract: full-time (35 hours per week), permanent post
Closing date: midnight on Sunday 6 February 2022
Background & Role:
The Assistant Archivist will join the Paul Mellon Centre at a time of transformation. Formally established ten years ago with much of the essential groundwork now laid, the archive is, for the first time, in a position to focus on promoting its collections.
The Assistant Archivist will have a range of roles: as well as supporting all areas of work in a small specialist archive repository, they will spend a significant proportion of time appraising and cataloguing collections. The Assistant Archivist will also have specific responsibility for developing an outreach programme across the Archives, Library & Photographic Archive collections that will engage new and existing audiences. They will further be responsible for managing all aspects of the public service.
Ideal Candidate:
This role would suit an experienced professional who embraces core archival work and thrives on engaging with audiences. It requires someone with attention to detail, enthusiasm, vision and excellent communication skills.
