Hi everyone, I hope you're all keeping well.
Unforeseen restrictions permitting, ARLIS South West will be running an event on Monday 25th April at Bower Ashton Campus, UWE Bristol. This is in conjunction with the Scandinavian Artists Book Partnership Project (http://www.bookarts.uwe.ac.uk/sabpp/) which brings together UK and Scandinavian artists and librarians or as it describes it better on this project webpage: "This project will facilitate knowledge exchange between librarians, artists and the public that will expand understanding of arts practice, and work towards a more sustainable, innovative and culturally successful discipline. It will change attitudes towards and the perception of artists’ books."
Details are still to be firmed up but we intend to run a workshop which will facilitate some knowledge sharing about acquiring, cataloguing, maintaining and promoting artists' books and hopefully some kind of making session too. The workshop will take place in UWE's publishing space on the day after BABE, the Bristol Artists Book Event, which runs over the weekend of the 23rd and 24th April at Bower Ashton.
As several of the ARLIS SW group are very busy planning the ARLIS Conference which will be held in Bristol this summer, any extra help to organise this April event would be warmly welcomed. Please feel free to get in touch with no obligation if you might be interested: [log in to unmask]
Meanwhile, please save the date and hopefully see you in the spring.
