Hello all. I'm writing from Gladstone's Library in Hawarden, North Wales. It's one of the UK's few residential libraries and is independently run. Set in a Victorian Gothic building, it houses collections that centre around politics, history and theology, and incorporate historic and modern texts, including books about media and news. We frequently host speakers from the industry, most recently Jonathan Heawood, broadcaster and founder of IMPRESS.
Many of our visitors and residents are studying for postgraduate degrees, and we offer a 20% accommodation discount for current students. Students are core users of our silent Reading Rooms, which have wifi coverage and are accessible from 9am to 10pm. The bedrooms are equipped with writing desks, but no TV. They are designed for minimal distractions.
A great many theses and dissertations have been completed, in full or in part at the library, so I thought it might appeal to some of you. You can find out more about the library and its facilities here: https://www.gladstoneslibrary.org.
Good luck with your research!
