Postdoctoral Fellowship - Structural Neuro-Cancer biology
Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, New York, USA

Dear all,

The Furukawa lab at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) in the suburb of New York City has NIH-funded postdoctoral fellow/associate positions available for scientists interested in solving questions in neurobiology and neuro-cancer-immunology by implementing a dynamic range of techniques including structural biology (cryo-EM, x-ray crystallography, molecular dynamics) together with electrophysiology (patch-clamp, slice physiology, lipid bilayer), protein engineering, chemical biology, mouse model, cellular imaging, and cancer mouse model.
We have an excellent track record for unraveling detailed mechanisms and developing reagents for ligand-gated ion channels and will be conducting biological researches based on the gained molecular knowledge. CSHL is equipped with a Titan-KRIOS electron microscope/K3 direct electron detector and a Talos L120C screening microscope. It has an in-house x-ray generator/detector and convenient access to the NSLS-II synchrotron beamlines (AMX and FMX). CSHL has solid core facilities including high-performance computation (CPU/GPU), antibody production, cellular imaging, CRISPR/RNAi, single-cell sequencing, etc. We offer a unique training environment for research and career development.
In addition, the CSHL Meetings and Courses program (https://meetings.cshl.edu/ including Cryo-EM, X-ray crystallography, Electrophysiology, Synthetic biology, etc) provides unmatched opportunities to be exposed to cutting-edge science and to interact with a broad range of researchers from all over the world. Please visit https://www.cshl.edu/research/faculty-staff/hiro-furukawa/ and http://furukawalab.labsites.cshl.edu/ to find out more about our research, publication, mentoring/lab culture, and training track record of the alumni members. Strong experience in protein purification, cryo-EM (single-particle analysis or cryo-ET), x-ray crystallography, and/or electrophysiology is desired but not required if you have other strengths. Qualified applicants should hold a Ph.D. or expect to hold a Ph.D. within or around 1 yr in the area of biochemistry, structural biology, biophysics, neuroscience, etc. Competitive salary ($58,500 - $65,500). Benefits program including medical and dental insurance and access to an affordable and licensed on-site childcare center.

Please send a CV and a cover letter briefly describing current research and future research interests in our lab directly to Hiro Furukawa at [log in to unmask] Applications are read and considered as they come and the search will continue until positions are filled.
