Hi,
Nice to "meet" you yesterday. We know of one collection that might be at risk. My colleague was previously the archivist for Sir William Lithgow of Ormsary. Sir William is in his eighties and in quite poor health, and the estate will be split between his three children on his death. The records there include Lithgow's Shipbuilding (some of the collection is with Glasgow University), estate records, fish farm records and windfarm records. It mostly dates from the last forty years. He is quite invested in his legacy but on his own terms, if you see what I mean. The contact details are at https://www.ormsary.com/contact-1.
Regards,
Jackie Davenport,
Archives Officer

Subject: Introduction to the new Business Archives Surveying Officer for Scotland
Hello all,
I would like to introduce myself as the new Business Archives Surveying Officer for Scotland.
Funded by the Ballast Trust with support from the National Records of Scotland, the Business Archives Surveying Officer for Scotland is responsible for surveying, rescuing and promoting business archives in Scotland. A full-time Surveying Officer was first appointed by the Business Archives Council of Scotland in 1977 and the existence of a Surveying Officer in Scotland has made a significant contribution to the status of the business archives sector in Scotland, and helped to ensure that Scotland has a wealth of business and business-related archives.
If you require any further information about the work of the Business Archives Surveying Officer, please visit https://surveyingofficer.co.uk/
If you have any direct enquiries regarding surveying business archives, please contact me by email at [log in to unmask] or phone on 01505 328488.
Best wishes,
Rachael Muir
Business Archives Surveying Officer
