We are seeking a motivated and passionate scientist specialising in biophysical analysis of proteins, to join the Biophysics group at our research facility in Granta Park, Cambridgeshire, UK. This is an excellent opportunity for a biophysical scientist to play a role in drug discovery projects at Sosei Heptares. We apply biophysics in small-molecule drug discovery from hit ID to clinical candidate.

The successful candidate is expected to:
•	Provide quantitative biophysical data on protein-ligand binding (compounds and other drug modalities) including affinity, kinetic and stoichiometric
data to inform chemistry design and mechanistic understanding.
•	Perform fragment and other compound screens, validate, and characterise hits from these screens to inform design.
•	Generate high fidelity and reproducible data and insights on the molecular mechanism of lead compounds and drug candidates.
•	Purify and prepare samples for biophysical analyses as required.
•	Identify and drive improvements and innovations in biophysics, expanding the scope of biophysical methods currently employed at Sosei Heptares.
•	Collaborate with other Sosei Heptares scientists on research projects successfully progressing membrane protein targets through Sosei Heptares’
        structure-based drug design pipeline.
•	Prepare and effectively present results (written and oral) to project teams.

Requirements
•	Have received/about to receive a PhD in biochemistry/biophysics or a related discipline or have equivalent relevant experience in a drug discovery
        setting.
•	Expertise in biophysical characterisation of molecular interactions and mechanistic insights using Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR).
•	Experience in other biochemical and biophysical methods such as nDSF, fluorescence-based approaches, mass spectrometry or single-molecule
        methods.
•	Prior experience working with membrane proteins would be considered an advantage.
•	Have strong interpersonal skills and interact effectively with collaborators across a wide range of disciplines.

Other Information
The successful candidate will be employed by Heptares Therapeutics Ltd, a UK wholly owned subsidiary of Sosei Group Corporation.

We offer a competitive salary and benefits package commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Candidate must have the right to work in the United Kingdom.

Heptares is an equal opportunities employer.

Applications should include a CV and covering letter, providing a short description of the background and interest in the role. Please apply through our on-line jobs’ portal at: https://bit.ly/30605vn ; with your application in pdf format, quoting reference number 2021-5BPhy-SPR. The closing date for applications is 31st December 2021.

Sosei Heptares does not accept speculative or unsolicited CVs from agencies. All speculative or unsolicited CVs submitted without an agreement in place will be considered Sosei Heptares' property and will not obligate us to pay a referral fee.
