Slavery and Resistance in Jamaican History
Sat 4 Dec 2021, 11:00 - 18:00
A day of practical talks and workshops from leading historians of eighteenth-century Jamaica.
This is a live in-person event only, postponed from March 2020.
Eighteenth-century Jamaica has been the subject of intense historical interest in recent years, as important or overlooked documents have been rediscovered, and new ways of approaching histories of enslavement, resistance and freedom have evolved.
This day of talks and workshops from leading writers on the period, including S I Martin, Catherine Hall, Miles Ogborn and Nadine Chambers, will offer stimulating overviews of important topics in early modern Jamaican studies, as well as practical insights on getting started with your own research and how to get the most out of the British Library's collections.
