AHRC PhD studentships at the Centre for Latin American & Caribbean Studies (CLACS), IMLR

The AHRC-funded London Arts & Humanities Doctoral Training Partnership (LAHP) will award up to 90 studentships for PhD students studying arts and humanities disciplines within the LAHP partnership institutions, to start in October 2022. Further details are available here: https://www.lahp.ac.uk/prospective-students/how-to-apply-for-an-open-studentship/

The studentships normally cover tuition fees at the 'Home' student rate and an annual maintenance stipend (£17,609 for 2021/22). Funding is available for both full-time and part-time students and LAHP can award studentships to 'International' students although only at the 'Home' rate. For further information please refer to their FAQ https://www.lahp.ac.uk/prospective-students/faqs/

Applications for 2022-23 LAHP studentships open on 29 November 2021. Before applying for a LAHP studentship, candidates must have already submitted an application for PhD study at one of the LAHP partner institutions.

The deadline for receipt of LAHP studentship applications is 28 January 2022 at 5pm.

The Centre for Latin American & Caribbean Studies invites applications for PhD study, commencing in October 2022.

Please visit the Centre's MPhil/PhD<https://ilas.sas.ac.uk/study-ilas/phd-latin-american-and-caribbean-studies-campus-distance-learning> webpages for full details of supervisors, areas of research, the programme structure and details of how to apply.

CLACS offers students an unparalleled range of resources in Latin American and Caribbean Studies. The Latin American and Caribbean Studies Collection, based at Senate House Library, combines the holdings and strengths of the CLACS and SHL collections to provide more than 90,000 volumes of research-level material. CLACS undertakes multi-disciplinary, specialist research on Latin America and the Caribbean. Our expert scholars offer doctoral research supervision on an extensive range of subjects within the humanities and social sciences, with special emphasis on the region's historical, cultural, and political dimensions. We also work closely with other institutes within the School of Advanced Study (SAS) with whom it is possible to have co-supervision.

In addition, the Centre is able to offer its own comprehensive programme of in-person and online Research and Skills Training, academic conferences, and events that attract students, early career researchers and established scholars from across the world. CLACS is located in iconic Senate House, in the heart of Bloomsbury. Its central London location ensures students are able to enjoy the wider benefits of the city, with both the British Museum and British Library within walking distance. As part of the University of London, CLACS students join a wider community of over 170,000 students. They are encouraged to participate in the wider activities of the university and are able to use the libraries of other colleges. All CLACS graduates receive a University of London degree.

Potential candidates should in the first instance contact the Director of CLACS, Dr Ainhoa Montoya ([log in to unmask]<mailto:[log in to unmask]>).
