They are going into our Rapid testing labs we have in our three ED depts. They are staffed and managed by POCT and run Covid, and / or Flu A, B and RSV samples for all admissions. We are fortunate to have been able to secure space from our ED to run this 24/7 service which has allowed patient flow to continue into the hospital safely. We have been running this service since Jan using SAMBA II and Roche LIAT and Cepheid GX-4 will now be installed as well to facilitate the loss of LIAT cartridge availability. We process between 400 - 500 samples a day across the three sites

Hi Helen/Kay

As you know Cepheid is a bulky benchtop analyser and has involved everyday maintenance, calibration and running QCs.

Considering this is impossible to be performed by the ward staff particularly those who are working at AE, can you please clarify what's your plan?

Kind regards

Mansour

We are going Cepheid route - we have secured them via Allocation plus local order for cartridges for Quadraplex cartridges

Subject: Current ED POCT Covid Testing

Dear All

We are looking at alternative solutions for the current POCT Liat COVID testing in ED, as I expect many others sites are doing. The Cepheid Gene Xpress is one alternative but has raised many questions e.g. analyser and laptop location, ease of use, extended test time, etc.

If you have time are you willing to share the processes in place at other sites?

For example:-

Which devices are used?

Who performs the tests?

Are POCT results confirmed with a lab test?

What patient process/pathway is in place?

Thank you

Kay Webber
