Lingnan University
Hong Kong is an international cultural hub and Asia’s world city. Lingnan is Hong Kong's liberal arts university, whose small size, top international faculty and strong emphasis on close staff and student relationships offer a unique environment for the pursuit of advanced studies in this vibrant and energetic city. The University offers MPhil and PhD programmes in Arts, Business, Science and Social Sciences disciplines. As well as having a strong international faculty in all the areas it covers, close and supportive thesis supervision is ensured by student-centred learning, which is one of its core values. At Lingnan, students establish close peer-type working relationships with academics in their departmental homes.
The Hong Kong PhD Fellowship Scheme (HKPFS) is aimed at attracting outstanding students from around the world to pursue doctoral studies in Hong Kong. Applicants may seek admission to our PhD programmes in two ways as follows:
1. Outstanding applicants may seek admission via the HKPFS by 1 December 2021 (Hong Kong Time 12:00 noon). Fellowship awardees will be provided with a Fellowship with a monthly stipend of HK$26,900*, and will be waived the full tuition fee for his/her first year of study. Students who apply for and do not get the Fellowship can still be considered for the regular PhD places at Lingnan.
2. Applicants may also apply to the University directly~ from 1 November 2021 to 21 January 2022. Normally, full-time PhD students will be awarded Postgraduate Studentships. In 2021-22, the full monthly stipend is HK$18,090*#, which will be raised to HK$18,440 after confirmation of candidature.
3. For applicants who are interested in applying for the PhD programmes but are not eligible for the HKPFS Fellowships and Postgraduate Studentships may apply for admission as self-financed students. Normally, the tuition fees for the self-financed students are HK$84,200 (for full-time) and HK$56,134 (for part-time). Both amounts are subject to annual review.
We also have popular and excellent research-based 2-year MPhil programmes. Applicants may apply for admission to our MPhil programmes directly from 1 November 2021 to 21 January 2022. Full-time MPhil students will also be awarded Postgraduate Studentships. In 2021-22, the full monthly stipend is HK$17,830*#.
