Hello,

Apologies for cross-posting. Please feel free to share the below message and information with any colleagues who might be interested.

The Birth Rites Collection is a collection of contemporary art which explores the politics and practice of childbirth. The collection comprises photography, sculpture, painting, artist books, print, drawing, new media and film and is the first and only collection of contemporary artwork dedicated to the subject of childbirth.

Join us for a virtual tour of the Birth Rites Collection, this Friday, 8 October, 2021 at 11am, live on Zoom with artist Hermione Wiltshire.

The tour will last 1.5 hours and costs £7 per person. Places can be booked via Eventbrite: https://www.birthritescollection.org.uk/tours

An access link will be sent before the tour is due to start.

Hermione Wiltshire is an Artist and co-head of the Photography Programme at the Royal College of Art. Her practice is an expanded photographic one that extends the physical status of the photographic image in multiple ways. Current research interests include Feminist aesthetics, the visual lexicon of sexual reproduction and the field of maternal studies. Her artwork Terese in Ecstatic Childbirth is part of The Birth Rites Collection at King’s College London and its censor is the subject of a paper jointly written with Helen Knowles curator of the collection called Institutional Resistances to the Birthing Body. It was exhibited recently in Birth at TJBoulting, London and Matresence at Richard Saltoun London. Hermione has hosted two international conferences at the RCA called Gender Generation: The Creative Process in Art & Design and Oxytocin in collaboration with Procreate.

You can find out more about the Birth Rites Collection at www.birthritescollection.org.uk.

We look forward to seeing you on a virtual tour!
