Archive Collections Cataloguer - Ukrainian Video Archives Society Collection (UVAS)
Salary £29,400 per annum
The Yorkshire Film Archive is seeking an experienced Archive Collections Cataloguer for a York-based, 12-month fixed-term post to organise, catalogue, and create contextual documentation in order to provide wider access to the Ukrainian Video Archive Society (UVAS) collection.
The Society is based in Bradford, and the UVAS collection comprises over 500 videotapes, recorded on VHS / Betamax formats (approximately 750 hours of footage) filmed over a period of 30 years. This unique collection captures an astonishing range of events, traditions, and cultural activities. It features the families, people, and places that have been at the centre of the community for many decades.
Candidates will need to demonstrate professional library / archival collections-based experience, a sound knowledge of cataloguing principles, metadata standards, records management, curatorship in the cultural heritage sector, particularly in relation to moving image collections, and an appreciation of working with culturally diverse collections.
Yorkshire Film Archive is a registered charity (no. 1093468) which finds, preserves, and provides public access to moving image made in or about Yorkshire and the North East of England. This post is supported by a grant awarded from Archives Revealed, a partnership programme between The National Archives, The Pilgrim Trust, and the Wolfson Foundation.
