Dear Kilian,
When using SPM's Image Display, you can use the "Add Overlay" button at
the bottom right of the figure - doesn't that give you a satisfactory
image? You also have more overlay options when using the contextual menu
(right click in the image). Perhaps send a screenshot of what you
obtained so far. Otherwise there are plenty of third-party image
viewers, e.g. MRIcron, that should do the job.
