The Department of Film Studies at King's College London is developing a new suite of modules in creative practice (narrative and non-narrative filmmaking, documentary, sound for moving image, critical media practice, research by practice). These modules will form part of our BA and MA Film Studies, and will be complemented by a new stream in our Film Studies PhD.
We are interested in hearing from creative practitioners working in these fields who might be interested in teaching for us on an hourly-paid basis in the academic year 2021-22. In particular, for autumn 2021, we need someone to co-teach with existing staff on an introductory filmmaking module in our BA. This entails a three-hour workshop every Thursday.
Hourly teaching at King's is paid at £20.99 per hour, but hourly-paid lecturers are paid two additional hours for every one hour of contact time, plus additional hours for teaching prep, office hours, admin, induction, and marking.
Hourly-paid lecturers in creative practice are required to have suitable qualifications (MFA or PhD) and relevant third-level teaching experience.
If you meet the requirements, please send a CV and brief expression of interest to Professor Mark Shiel, Department of Film Studies, King's College London ([log in to unmask]).
*For the autumn 2021 teaching opportunity, please email on or before October 1st, 2021.*
For other possible opportunities, this call will remain open throughout the academic year.
Thank you.
