Hello everyone,

As you may well know, impact evaluation is one of the most important and
yet complex steps to take whenever we conduct a public engagement activity,
and badly designed surveys can waste people’s time and introduce
misinformation into organizations. This *hands-on training course* provides
practical guidance on how to develop surveys in line with well-established
best practice.

Dr. Eric Jensen explains what you can expect when you register in this very
short video. <https://vimeo.com/580044666>

*Register now!

*What to expect from the online survey design course?*

This professionally designed course introduces how, why, and when to use
surveys for evaluation and how to avoid common pitfalls in survey design.
It addresses the following:

· Why use surveys for evaluation

· When you shouldn’t use surveys for evaluation.

· How to develop a “good” survey question and response options.

· Avoiding common pitfalls in survey design: How to spot a bad
survey question and response options.

· Using open-ended questions in your survey.

· Using online, iPad-based and automated surveys.

· Pilot testing your survey.

You will be able to access this self-paced online course on your own
schedule to supplement and extend your learning from the live workshop.

*What is included with workshop registration?*

The live workshop gives you the opportunity to develop your survey in a
supportive environment with other professionals and direct engagement with
the trainer. The online course provides learning resources prepared for you
by Dr. Jensen to give you the key information you need about principles and
techniques of survey design, along with worked examples. When you register
for this training workshop, you will receive the following:

· Live 3-hour online workshop on survey design led by Dr. Eric
Jensen and supported by Dr. Aaron Jensen (*due to many requests, we just
added a date in North America time zones on 3 November 2021!).*

· A six-month subscription to an online training module by Dr.
Jensen, with 16 hours of independent learning on survey design, including
practical examples and activities.

· Useful readings, such as the survey design chapter from Dr.
Jensen’s book: Doing Real Research: A Practical Guide to Social Research
(SAGE).

· Example survey questions and designs you can borrow and adapt for
your work.

*What to expect from the live workshop?*

During the workshop, you will be able to draft and develop your survey
questions in a supportive setting with guidance from expert trainers. Brief
refresher presentations about survey design principles and techniques will
be part of the session. Bring your specific survey-related concerns and
challenges, so that they can be addressed in the live session.

*Expertise and experience of the trainer*

Dr. Eric Jensen is the author of Real Research: A Practical Guide to Social
Research (SAGE). He has extensive experience designing and conducting
survey research and evaluations as a consultant for institutions including
the European Space Agency, Science Foundation Ireland, Arts Council
England, University of Cambridge Medical School, University of Oxford, the
National Gallery, London Zoo, and Natural History Museum. Dr. Jensen holds
a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Cambridge. He has taught survey
research methods at the University of Cambridge and the University of
Warwick. Jensen has delivered invited training workshops on survey research
and evaluation methods around the world. His particular specialism is
impact evaluation in the context of evidence-based science communication.

If you have any questions or you need any information regarding the
workshop, email us at [log in to unmask] and we will gladly assist
you.

We look forward to seeing you there!
